Alberto holds a degree in Biotechnology with a mention in Biomedical Biotechnology from Universitat Rovira i Virgili. To finish his studies at URV, he collaborated as a junior scientist and junior bioinformatician, using RStudio to analyze metabolomics, proteomics, and glycolomics. This research focused on the modulation of a large pool of metabolites and the distinct glycosylation of acute phase proteins using Hydrogen Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (¹H-NMR).

Following his interest in Biomedical Biotechnology, he enrolled in the Advanced Immunology Master’s program at Universitat de Barcelona and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, taking the Immunobiotechnology specialty course. During the master’s program, he has been able to deepen his knowledge of the immune system and its cellular dynamics, especially in cancer, allergy, and autoimmune diseases. Alongside this knowledge, he has gained extensive experience in the validation and development of immune assays such as Flow Cytometry, ELISA, Immunoblot, and many other analytical techniques focusing on the study of specific immune cell populations.

For his master’s thesis, he joined Pablo Scodeller's group in the Chemical Biology Department of IQAC-CSIC. During this period, his research has focused on phenotype reprogramming of bone marrow-derived macrophages using a peptide-drug conjugate in combination with different clinical antibodies used against tumors. His work has involved the use of the ELISA technique to study cytokine secretion, and various assays using flow cytometry, such as immunophenotyping and phagocytic activity assays involving cell staining and use of transgenic cancer cell lines.

He is now awaiting the defense of his master’s thesis and preparing to start a doctoral fellowship in the field of cancer immunotherapy.
